Intro

Business analysts drive economic growth and innovation in diverse sectors and all kinds of organisations. They use their expertise to assess the performance of organisations’ processes, products, services and systems to enable improved decision-making and efficiency.

On our Business Analytics BSc(Hons) degree you will develop the skills required to interpret complex data and support informed data-driven business decision making. You’ll study important trends including generative, cloud computing and data sharing.

Working on live case studies, you’ll become an excellent communicator and problem-solver who can successfully deliver business and digital change.

Entry requirements

A-levels or BTEC
Entry requirements are in the range of A-level BBB–BCC (120–104 UCAS Tariff points), or BTEC Extended Diploma DMM–MMM. Our conditional offers typically fall within this range.

International Baccalaureate
26 points, with three subjects at Higher level.

Access to HE Diploma
Pass with 60 credits overall. At least 45 credits at level 3, with 24 credits at merit.

T-level
Merit in the Management and Administration or Digital Business Services T-levels. No other T-levels are accepted.

Foundation degree/HND
May enable you to start the course in year 2. Relevant subjects required.

Studied before or got relevant experience?
A qualification, HE credits or relevant experience may count towards your course at 91¶¶Òõ and could mean that you do not have to take some elements of the course or can start in year 2 or 3. 

English language requirements

Our Business Management BSc(Hons) with integrated foundation year provides an extra year of study at foundation level if you do not have the academic qualifications or experience needed for entry to this course.

Year 1

Starting the first year, you’ll be introduced to cyber security, as well as explore topics such as computing technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Year 2

In year 2 you will explore SQL database systems, gaining practical experience in building database systems using this technology.

Placement year

Gain valuable industry experience and earn money on an optional placement year. Return to your final year with confidence, hands-on experience and contacts.

During your placement year you'll complete a business project. This project is an assessed part of your degree and, depending on the topic you choose, could also provide a valuable piece of insight for your placement employer.

Previous placement companies include American Express, BMW, Bosch, Channel 4, Disney, Electronic Arts, Hewlett Packard, Home Office, IBM, Ipsos Mori, ITV, lastminute.com, Microsoft and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

In your final year explore topics such as data analytics, data mining, data warehousing, the business application of neural networks, sentiment analysis and data visualisation.

Meet the team

Kamila is a principal lecturer in supply chain management and the Associate Dean of Academic Operations at the School of Business and Law. She has a strong background in both academia and industry, particularly in operations, planning, supply chain, and business intelligence within the FMCG sector.

After a decade in industry, Kamila returned to academia, bringing expertise in sustainability, ethical business practices and business intelligence. Her research focuses on modern integrated supply chain management, using IT tools, Big Data analytics and AI to enhance decision-making.

Kamila’s extensive experience in supply chain management and business intelligence makes her an ideal instructor for the Business Analytics course. She provides practical insights into data analytics and quantitative methods, helping students leverage data for effective business decision-making. She continues to work with local companies on digital transformation and business analytics projects.

Kamila has designed and currently teaches two business analytics modules: Applied Business Analytics and Supply Chain Analytics.

Dr Kamila Walters

Shree is a lecturer in entrepreneurship in the School of Business and Law. Her research studies the role of absorptive capacity to enable labour efficiency as new and emerging technologies are being implemented in the market.

Apart from being an active researcher, she also worked with the  project which was a £1.3m research project, funded by the European Structural Investment Fund and Arts Council England. It aims to provide technology SMEs, creative arts practitioners and cultural organisations supported and authorised access to Gatwick Airport’s big data. For both DRIVA and Nuffield Project she has worked as a Research Fellow for Data Science and Visualisation.

Shree has significantly contributed to the university's RISE project, our Help to Grow course and the Inclusivity and Partnership Project.

She brings rich and valuable experience in data analytics and business intelligence skills. Shree enjoys teaching on various modules in the School of Business and Law, alongside her active research work. She's eager to supervise students working on management perspectives of new technologies and implementation challenges.

Dr Rageshree Sinha

Dr Chinnapaka's work is interdisciplinary, drawing on information systems, internet business, digital economy and analytics.

His research aims to inform our understanding of how internet business technologies and practices affect society, business environment, organisations, business models, and strategies.

A broader range of themes includes information systems, AI business models, digital marketing, digital transformation, data, business analytics and the role of new technology in business and finance.

Fees and costs

Course fees

UK (full-time) 9,535 GBP

International (full-time) 17,250 GBP

This course offers a professional placement (sandwich) year in year 3. If you choose to take this placement you will pay a reduced fee during this year. For students starting their undergraduate degree in the 2025–26 academic year, the fee for the professional placement year is £1,500 for UK students and £1,850 for international students. This fee may be subject to small increases in line with inflation.

The fees listed here are for the first year of full-time study if you start your course in the academic year 2025–26.

You will pay fees for each year of your course. Some fees may increase each year.

UK undergraduate and some postgraduate fees are regulated by the UK government and increases will not be more than the maximum amount allowed. Course fees that are not regulated may increase each year by up to 5% or RPI (whichever is higher).

If you are studying part-time your fee will usually be calculated based on the number of modules that you take.

Moulsecoomb campus

Two miles north of 91¶¶Òõ seafront, Moulsecoomb is our largest campus and student village. Moulsecoomb has been transformed by a recent development of our estate. On campus you’ll find new Students’ Union, events venue and sports and fitness facilities, alongside the library and student centre.

Over 900 students live here in our Moulsecoomb Place halls and the new Mithras halls – Brunswick, Goldstone, Hanover, Preston and Regency.

Moulsecoomb has easy access to buses and trains so you can access all the exciting things happening in our home city.

We have self-catered halls on all our campuses, within minutes of your classes, and other options that are very nearby.

You can apply for any of our halls, but the options closest to your study location are:

  • Mithras Halls are stylish new high-rises in the heart of the student village at our revitalised Moulsecoomb campus with ensuite rooms for more than 800 students.
  • Varley Park is a popular dedicated halls site, offering a mix of rooms and bathroom options at different prices. It is around two miles from Moulsecoomb campus and four miles from the city centre, and is easy to get to by bus.

All of our full-time undergraduate courses involve work-based learning - this could be through placements, live briefs and guest lectures. Many of these opportunities are provided by local businesses and organisations.

It's only 50 minutes by train from 91¶¶Òõ to central London and there are daily direct trains to Bristol, Bedford, Cambridge, Gatwick Airport, Portsmouth and Southampton.
