Sport and exercise science taster days

Our sports science taster days give students the opportunity to experience the practical demonstration of exercise and fitness tests that are usually confined to the pages of their text books.

They're given as much hands-on participation as possible, using various pieces of equipment and undertaking data collection and analysis. We underpin the days with elements of theory that are included in the syllabus to bridge the gap between the classroom and the laboratory.

The aim of these sports science taster days is to enhance the understanding of some of the concepts in the curriculum, demonstrating from a practical perspective how they might be used in the professional sporting world.

All days are delivered by an experienced member of our team.

Sport and exercise science taster days

Students will tour the laboratories and be able to experience how the country’s top athletes are assessed and trained.

They will also have the opportunity to take part in or assist with tests of lactate threshold, VO2max, and a range of other components of fitness, including the isokinetic dynamometers, which are used for assessing muscle strength.
