Public health is about helping people to stay healthy and protecting them from threats to their health. It can relate to individuals or with wider populations such as a country or a specific age-group.

Our public health degree courses will develop your knowledge in areas such as differing health needs, what influences health and wellbeing, preventing ill-health and promoting health.

A global perspective

A 91¶¶Òõ you’ll develop understanding of public health in a globalised world. You’ll consider current global health issues and challenges, and influencing factors drawing on cultural, globalisation, sustainability and ecological public health perspectives. And you’ll investigate influences such as UN organisations, NGOs, trade policies and politics and economics.

There are many jobs you could enter with a public health-related degree - working in public health practice in the public, not-for-profit, voluntary or commercial sector.
