This university application timeline gives you an overview of when you can apply for undergraduate courses and highlights the UK university application deadlines for 2025-26.

Your application

When should I start applying for university? You can apply through UCAS Apply from September 2024. To give your application the best chance, you should apply by 29 January 2025, the UCAS application deadline for most students. Check if your school or college has an earlier deadline.

When you apply to us you will be given access to Student View where you can track your application, book interviews and applicant days, and send messages.

October–November

Find out more at an open day

Open days are a great way to find out about the campus where you will be studying and the local area. You will also be able to hear more about your chosen subject and have a chance to talk to our staff and current students.

Campus tours are running in December and January and are another chance to meet our students and get a feel for our campuses, in case you were unable to attend an open day.

Your application

To give your application the best chance, you should apply by 29 January 2025, the UCAS application deadline for most students.

 
 

Apply for student funding

To ensure that you receive funding in good time, make sure you apply early for your student funding. You do not need to wait until you have been offered a place on a course to apply for funding.

For some of our courses you will need to provide a portfolio as a condition of your offer. We’ll send you information about how to do this.

Think about accommodation

We guarantee a place in halls of residence to all students if you make 91¶¶Òõ your firm choice, will be starting your first year of full-time study and book university accommodation by the deadline we provide. If you accept an offer from us before 30 June we’ll be in touch with your room offer after your place on your course is confirmed. Applications for university accommodation open in April.

Get to know us better

Between February and April we run applicant days for many courses, both online and on campus. These events give applicants and offer holders the chance to see the facilities you will use on your course, talk to your tutors and students currently on your course, and meet people who have applied for the same course.

UCAS Extra

If you have used all five choices on UCAS and you're not holding any offers, you can add more choices through UCAS Extra from 26 February to 4 July.

If you have not already applied through UCAS, you can or apply direct to the university.

We make most offers in the spring term, but please be patient if you haven’t heard from us. If you haven't heard from us and you have concerns, please get in touch – we are here to help.

Decide on your first and second choice offers

In June and July you will have to make your first (firm) and second (insurance) choice of course and university and confirm it with UCAS.

If you receive your last decision on or before 14 May 2025, your reply date is 4 June 2025. If you receive your last decision on or before 17 July 2025, your reply date is  23 July 2025 (including UCAS Extra choices).

Applying for university accommodation

The deadline for applying for university accommodation is 30 June 2025. Invitations to apply for university accommodation are sent out by email from Early April. If you have not heard from us by May please contact us while there is still time for you to apply.

Apply direct to us

If you have not previously applied through UCAS and you already have your exam results, you can apply direct to us through Clearing.

Get your exam results

If you are studying for a BTEC, IB or Access Course qualification, you may get your results in July. Make sure you let us know about your results when you get them.

Looking for a place to live

If you are planning on finding your own accommodation get in touch with our Accommodation Service. We manage a database of properties offered by landlords who meet our code of standards and a Housemates service on Facebook where you can meet other students offering and looking for accommodation. 

 
August

Get your exam results

A-level and BTEC results day is 14 August 2025 (GCSE results are on 21 August 2025) and Scottish Highers are due on 5 August 2025. The date for Irish Leaving Certificates is also in August. Once you have all your exam results you can check your for confirmation of your place and we will confirm your place with you too.

Look for a place to live

If you are planning on finding your own accommodation get in touch with our Accommodation Service. The teams have years of experience, and can provide you with a wealth of resources for finding your new home. They also run a Housemates service on Facebook where you can meet other students offering and looking for accommodation.

Confirm your accommodation

Once you have your results and your place is confirmed you can confirm your accommodation. If you’ve applied for university accommodation we’ll be in touch to tell you about where you’ll be living.

 
Late August

Get ready for university

We’ll email you to let you know what you need to do to get ready for university. You’ll need to complete online enrolment and check the details about your course. You’ll be invited to get involved in online welcome activities through our Belong at 91¶¶Òõ programme.

September

Check when your course starts and your timetable

Some courses, for example in health and education, have start dates before the official beginning of the university’s autumn term. Use My 91¶¶Òõ to find out where you need to be during the first week of your course and when that is. Check course reading and materials lists too.

 

Make the most of the welcome programme

The welcome programme is the first week of the autumn term. You will complete your in-person enrolment, attend university and course induction activities and enjoy the events the university and the Students' Union put on for new students.

The general application deadline for equal consideration is 29 January. The deadline to apply for a medicine degree is 15 October. It's essential to make a note of the specific deadline for the university and course you're interested in and apply well in advance to increase your chances of admission.

    We recommend starting your research and considering universities and courses at least a year before the application deadline. Finally, you can make up to five choices on your UCAS application. This can be a combination of different courses, universities, or both.

  • The key dates for UCAS applications in 2025

    29 January 2025: Deadline to apply for all other UCAS undergraduate courses for equal consideration

    26 February 2025: UCAS Extra opens for applicants who have applied for five courses and are not holding any offers

    30 June 2025: UCAS deadline to apply in the main application cycle.

    4 July 2025: Deadline for applications through UCAS Extra · 5 July 2025: Clearing opens

    14 August 2025: Results day for A-level and BTEC exams

    19 October 2025: The last date to add Clearing choices for courses starting in 2025 – universities will also have their own “latest start date” for enrolling on a course.

  • Even if the UCAS deadline for undergraduate courses has passed, you can apply for courses in 2025 if universities still have places.
