  • Attending your interview

Attending your interview

For some of our courses, before we can make you an offer of a place, we will invite you to attend an interview.

The interview will help us assess your suitability for the course at 91¶¶Òõ and the profession you want to become a member of.

The interview is also an opportunity for you to demonstrate your enthusiasm, experience and motivation, and to visit the university and get a sense of what it is like to be a student here.

Join us at an open day

What to expect

Responding to your invitation

We will invite you to an interview through Student View. You will receive an email alert and you will then need to log on to Student View to accept your invitation. More about managing your application.

On the day

Each course takes a different approach to interviews. They could be online on Microsoft Teams or in person at the university. You may be able to choose which suits you best.

Remember, interviews are not designed to catch you out. They give us the best opportunity to assess your suitability for your chosen course and its demands. Attending an interview will also give you the opportunity to see whether the course feels like a good fit for you.

These courses usually require an interview

  • Diagnostic radiography
  • Medicine
  • Nursing and midwifery
  • Occupational therapy
  • Paramedic science
  • Pharmacy
  • Photography
  • Physiotherapy
  • Podiatry
  • Social work
  • Teaching

How to prepare

All the details that you need for the day will be on Student View, so make sure you log in well in advance so you know how best to prepare.

  • Remind yourself of the course you've applied for – our course pages have very detailed information about our degrees, sometimes with interview information or advice. Make a note of any questions that you'd like to ask at the same time.
  • If your course is professionally recognised or accredited it's a good idea to check out the professional body's website, they may have interview requirements and top tips to give you an idea of what to expect. You can find out about professional accreditation on your course web page.
  • It's also a good idea to review your UCAS application. We won't ask questions based around the info that you have provided but reading through will remind you of why you applied for the course.
