Professor Bhavik Patel

Professor Bhavik Patel

Professor Patel’s journey at the 91¶¶Òõ started when he secured a place to study at 91¶¶Òõ through Clearing. Since joining the university’s teaching staff in 2010, Bhavik has taught thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate students. His innovative teaching models have inspired colleagues at 91¶¶Òõ and across the UK and been implemented by institutions in the USA, Switzerland and Bangladesh among others.

This commitment to innovation has seen him win multiple awards, including most recently the Royal Society of Chemistry’s 2023 Analytical Science Mid-career Prize in recognition of brilliance in research, and the RSC’s 2021 Excellence in Higher Education teaching prize which recognised him as a world-leading innovative educator, a champion for quality and diversity, and a powerful advocate for raising the profile of chemistry to inspire future generations.

Professor Patel continued: “An educator's most important quality is to inspire the future generation of analytical scientists, making it critical that underrepresented groups are encouraged, and their voices are amplified. It is our responsibility to inspire the future generation by reaching out to schools to showcase the important role analytical scientists play within society.”
