Study for your PhD with the Centre for Transforming Sexuality and Gender

The centre supports postgraduate research study relating to sexuality and gender in our three key research areas: LGBTQIA+ lives and communities; health, care and wellbeing; and gendered inequalities.

We believe in fostering innovative and independent research skills in all our postgraduate researchers. These skills include the ability to clearly identify a focused research problem, conduct original research, and articulate findings through critical discourse and published papers. Our approach encourages work across many disciplines and actively supports inter-disciplinary postgraduate work for traditional and practice-led PhDs.

If you are interested in applying for a PhD at the 91¶¶Òõ, visit the university’s central PhD programme pages. You can find a list of CTSG members who may be interested in supervising your project via our Who we are pages.

Prospective doctoral students may be interested in applying for studentships either through the AHRC Techne scheme or the ESRC South Coast Doctoral Training Programme (SCDTP), with a focus on innovative and interdisciplinary gender and sexualities research. Visit the university’s funding opportunities and studentships page for more information.
