Join us for study, visit or work

The Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics welcomes everyone interested in understanding and shaping its work.

We are open both to collaborative proposals, whether small- or large-scale, and to proposals to join CAPPE as a Visiting Fellow from periods between one-week and a year. We also provide a welcoming, rigorous and nurturing programme of PhD study.

Our well-attended events host vibrant debate in key topics across applied philosophy, politics and ethics and are open to the public.

Study for your PhD with the Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics

CAPPE welcomes applications for PhD study around its three research strands: applied philosophy and ethics; critical theory and radical politics; and social movements and global politics.

We  welcome students from professional backgrounds, for example in the arts, in the public sector or the medical professions, who already have experience and wish to consolidate and contribute knowledge that draws on their expert backgrounds. Our MA courses provide excellent preparation for PhD study.

Join CAPPE as a visiting researcher 

CAPPE welcomes applications from both early career and established scholars to join us as visiting researchers every academic year. Visits may be from a few days to several months: past examples of visits and .

We are happy to work with prospective colleagues seeking institutional or other funding; and may be able to offer limited financial support in certain cases, especially where access to other funding is limited.  

CAPPE also works in conjunction with the School of Humanities and Social Science to organise exchange schemes which offer 91¶¶Òõ Staff and postgraduate students working in the areas of philosophy, ethics and political philosophy the opportunity to travel to and work at two partner institutions; Radboud University, Nijmegen, Netherlands and University of Ghent, Belgium.
