Apprentice redundancy advice

In the unfortunate event that your employer is making you redundant before the end of your apprenticeship, we can offer support and guidance to help you seek employment for the remaining duration of your apprenticeship programme.

As your training provider we may still be able to offer training in the short term whilst our Careers team support you to help find a new employer. We can provide advice and guidance, and signposting to resources such as how to approach employers and understanding your skills.

If you are at risk of redundancy or have been made redundant please contact the Apprenticeships team at apprenticeships@brighton.ac.uk to find out if there are current vacancies with our 91¶¶Òõ partner organisations.

Frequently asked questions

Can the university help me find a new employer?

Yes, the Apprenticeships team will be able to advise on current vacancies with partner organisations, please contact apprenticeships@brighton.ac.uk. You can also arrange to meet with a member of the Careers team who can help you to find employment, please email careers@brighton.ac.uk.

How else can I find a new employer?

You can approach employers directly and make a speculative application. Alternatively, you can find an employer to continue your apprenticeship with through the Government's

Can I continue to study until I find a new employer?

You may require a Break in Learning whilst a new training agreement is signed, please contact the Apprenticeships team at apprenticeships@brighton.ac.uk for more advice. Off-the-job hours can continue to be logged through personal development during this time.

How long do I have to find a new employer?

There is a three-month window in which you can find an employer if you have more than six months remaining on your training programme. If you have less than six months please contact the Apprenticeships team at apprenticeships@brighton.ac.uk for support.
