Residential Wellbeing

If you're a student living in university halls, you'll be supported by a Residential Wellbeing Team.

Your Residential Wellbeing team helps to create safe, supportive and inclusive communities in our university accommodation. Alongside our Staff Residential Advisers, experienced students live and work in our accommodation as Student Residential Advisers, providing friendship and guidance to new students and offering a programme of social activities.

Student Residential Advisers

We know that it may be easier to talk to a fellow student than a member of staff, so each flat is assigned a Student Residential Advisers (SRA). SRAs are senior students who live and work in the halls.

They provide student-to-student support and check in regularly to make sure that you are okay. They also help to organise and deliver social activities, creating opportunities for you to meet other students, develop a sense of belonging, and have fun.

SRAs work on a call-out and rota basis and are available to respond to more minor incidents overnight, for example if you are feeling homesick or lonely.

The great thing about the SRA team is that since we are all students studying a wide range of subjects and from different backgrounds, you will be able to find someone you can relate to.

Anjola Oladipo, Student Residential Adviser

Staff Residential Advisers

Staff Residential Advisers are members of staff that live and work on site, supporting students in the halls of residence.

Staff Residential Advisers can offer advice and guidance to residents, and are primarily there to react to more serious incidents in the accommodation.

They also work over the weekend, providing overnight support to residents in case of an emergency.

Residential Wellbeing is based on friendship and building a sense of community. It's about easing the transition from school and college into university life, and creating a safe and secure living environment.
