Online summer schools

Our online summer schools offer you the chance to get a taste of what it's like to study a subject you love at university.

Find out about the university experience from lecturers, current students and university staff. You'll take part in taster sessions and a subject-specific project that could be used to support your personal statement.

The programme includes lectures, project support, informal discussions, careers and university information, study skills and fun online social events.

There is no cost to take part in an online summer school.

Applications are now open for our online summer schools, which will run 22–25 July 2025. The deadline for applications is Friday 18 July 2025.

Frequently asked questions

  • How much does it cost?

Nothing! There is no cost to participate in the online summer schools.

  • Who can attend?

All students in year 12/first year of college or 6th form can attend.

  • What's the difference between in-person summer schools and online summer schools?

The main difference is that you can take part from anywhere, at your own pace, each day over the 4 day event there will be a live interactive session to attend, for the rest of the time you can access on demand content and research your subject-specific project. It is recommended you have access to a laptop or PC to join in the sessions.

  • What type of project will be created?

Our students take part in a whole range of exciting projects – this might involve writing a mini essay, creating a poster or presentation, or sketching a design. You can see examples of some of the projects students have created by subject. Every student will receive feedback on their summer school project.

I had the chance to deeply explore a project that I found both engaging and fulfilling related to a course I enjoyed. Overall, this experience was highly educational and personally rewarding.
