Guaranteed accommodation
We will guarantee a place in university-managed accommodation for your first year of study, including Christmas and Easter, providing that you firmly accept your offer of a place and apply by the accommodation deadline.
This can be extended to future years and the summer holiday, however we cannot always promise this will be in the same halls you are offered in your first year.
If you would prefer to live in private sector accommodation, we can also help you with this.
If you do accept halls, you will get a warm welcome from our Student Residential Advisers.

Help with funding
Once decides you are estranged from your family and you are a UK national, you are automatically treated as an independent student.
This means that you won’t have to provide them with any financial information from your parents in order to be assessed for the standard student finance package.

You may be eligible for our Estranged Student's Bursary which is £1,000 per year. This is not a loan so you don’t have to pay this back.
We also have additional funds to help students who may be experiencing financial difficulties, which you can apply for after your course has started.

Help while you are here
Your Student Support and Guidance Tutor will be available to you if you are struggling with your studies or experiencing difficult situations in or outside of university. As well as providing a non-judgemental, confidential space to talk about any challenges you may be facing, we can help you to access the broad range of specialist support you are entitled to.
We provide study skills assistance – to help you with the academic demands of university and you can access personal 1-2-1 study skills sessions and online support through our excellent Skills Hub
Our Careers and Employability team can help you decide what career is right for you, develop the skills you need, and get a job when you finish your studies. They can also help you find employment whilst you are studying – and you will have priority access to the university’s mentoring programme, which can help boost your confidence and gain extra employability skills.
