Collaborations

We have a strong tradition of collaborative research, within academia and across the wider community. We encourage cross-disciplinary research, develop national-level collaborations enabling us to influence policy and transform lives.

We aim to create partnerships with industry, academic institutions, professional bodies and community groups, bringing together experts sharing specialist knowledge. Our skilled Tourism Policy, Practice and Performance (TPPP) Consultancy Unit is professional and commercially-oriented, helping organisations deliver measurable results.

We use our strong network of experts, drawing upon specialist knowledge from across our multidisciplinary leading-edge research base, to meet your needs as efficiently as possible.

Our collaborations produce research that really matters. We produce new ideas and fresh perspectives to tackle real-world challenges with relevant research findings.

W2

We entered into an exciting collaboration to be academic partner of W2, a consulting company based in Ireland led by the former Ireland rugby international and World Rugby Player of the Year, Keith Wood and Mark O'Connell. We organised the academic conference at the 2nd European Forum on Sport and Tourism which was held in Limerick, Ireland in May 2015.

The first forum in 2014 involved industry leaders from around Europe and beyond as we examined the growth of the sport and tourism industry. We are also working to develop impact of Rugby4Peace programmes in Africa as part of our Football4Peace organisation.

Sportcal

In alliance with W2 we are providing the sport and tourism hub of the Global Sports Event Impact Project. This project is a massive undertaking by Sportcal, analysing more than 2000 sports events from around the world to develop a better tool for assessing costs and benefits of events in economic, environmental and social terms.

Our work involves examining data from these events and their impact on tourism and local communities where events are held. We produced a report on the state of sports tourism internationally which was released at the 2nd European Forum on Sport and Tourism in May 2015. Sportcal is the leading international organisation providing information and analysis for the sports industry delivering to thousands of clients and stakeholders around the world.
