Study abroad application form

Guidance notes

Before completing the form, please read these guidance notes carefully.

Please note that as a study abroad student, you are not applying for a bachelor award but are attempting to achieve academic credit to transfer back to your home university.

First name and last name: please enter your full name as it appears in your passport or other official documentation.

Phone number: please include the country code e.g. (+1) for USA

Permanent address: enter the address where you live permanently

Visa status: Please check if you need a visa using our guidance. We will require all study abroad students who need a visa to submit a copy of their passport – we will contact you for this via email after receiving your application.

Deposit: On acceptance of your application, we will request a deposit of £1000 GBP which is required to secure your place on the programme.

Disabilities: Please enter in the box the code from the list of statements below which is most appropriate to you. If you enter a disability, the university will use this information to make appropriate arrangements with the Disabilities and dyslexia team on how to support your studies at the university.

a) No disability

b) You have a social/communication impairment such as Asperger’s syndrome/other autistic spectrum disorder

c) You are blind or have a serious visual impairment uncorrected by glasses

d) You are deaf or have a serious hearing impairment

e) You have a long standing illness or health condition such as cancer, HIV, diabetes, chronic heart disease, or epilepsy

f) You have a mental health condition, such as depression, schizophrenia or anxiety disorder

g) You have a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or AD(H)D

h) You have physical impairment or mobility issues, such as difficulty using your arms or using a wheelchair or crutches

i) You have a disability, impairment or medical condition that is not listed above

j) You have two or more impairments and/or disabling medical conditions

English Language Competency: please note that an IELTS Certificate must be no older than two years by the start of the study abroad programme. We require a minimum overall score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each component. If you have an alternative English language qualification to IELTS, please note this in the box provided.

GPA: We require a minimum GPA of 2.75. If your GPA is lower than this, please state this and provide any extenuating circumstances in your personal statement.

Class preferences: Please choose 4-6 modules from the module directory. Please check the modules you wish to do match the semester you wish to attend.

Personal statement: Please include:

  • Why you would like to study at the UOB
  • Details of any extenuating circumstances for a low GPA.
  • Any other supporting evidence.
