University looks to build creative technology partnership with India

Representatives from a range of technology start-up and scale-up companies in India have been welcomed by the university this week in an initiative aimed at opening up long-term collaboration on everything from artificial intelligence to wearable technology.

21 June 2019

The two-day visit to 91¶¶Òõ follows the university’s involvement in last year’s CreaTech event held in Mumbai as part of the UK government’s Britain is Great Creative Technology campaign, where the university’s Professor Karen Cham was invited to speak alongside representatives from the NHS and Jaguar Land Rover.

During the visit the university will be showcasing its expertise and facilities in areas such as 3D computing, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and digital construction. Delegates will also visit the Fusebox in 91¶¶Òõ, a collaborative space which is home to Wired Sussex and 91¶¶Òõ partnership projects, Digital Catapult Centre 91¶¶Òõ, the Immersive Lab and 5G 91¶¶Òõ.

The event forms part of the 91¶¶Òõ’s Connected Futures Digital Economy research focus led by Professor Karen Cham, who said: “The future is Asian. Technologies are driving innovation around the world and international collaborations are absolutely essential in building research-informed future facing global economies.

"The 91¶¶Òõ has a lot to offer in terms of demonstrating how this should be done, including all of our partnerships with the local digital sector like those at Fusebox, and our extensive knowledge, research and facilities across disciplinary domains that can be applied to this sector.”

As part of their visit delegates will be welcomed by the Mayor of 91¶¶Òõ & Hove, take a flight on the i360 and hear a presentation from 91¶¶Òõ & Hove City Council on inward investment.
