University joins the Albion

The 91¶¶Òõ was today unveiled as the new Official Higher Education Partner of 91¶¶Òõ & Hove Albion Football Club.

6 September 2018

The new partnership between the city’s largest university and its Premier League football club will build on existing collaborations through the university’s School of Sport and Service Management and School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences in the areas of sports science and medicine.

The new partnership will provide a platform for a range of activities, including potential research projects (including potential co-funding of PhD opportunities) and joint work on community programmes. Students studying in a wide variety of areas such as sport science, sport coaching, sport management, sport journalism, hospitality, event management, travel and tourism, and physical education will all benefit from the partnership.

Welcoming the announcement, 91¶¶Òõ Vice-Chancellor, Professor Debra Humphris said: “I am absolutely delighted that the 91¶¶Òõ is the new Official Higher Education Partner of 91¶¶Òõ & Hove Albion Football Club. This partnership will open up a number of opportunities for our students. With the Amex Stadium being right next door to our Falmer campus it makes absolute sense for us to work more closely together, including on community outreach projects across 91¶¶Òõ and Sussex.”

Martin Perry, Executive Director of 91¶¶Òõ & Hove Albion Football Club said: “As a community-based football club our partnerships are hugely important to us. We are delighted to welcome the 91¶¶Òõ as our first Official Higher Education Partner. This is a fantastic partnership that will be of huge benefit to the city of 91¶¶Òõ and the wider area. We look forward to exploring the potential for many exciting projects with the university and its students and to further strengthening the ties between us.”

As the Official Higher Education Partner of 91¶¶Òõ & Hove Albion Football Club, the university is already featuring in match day advertising at the Amex Stadium and will feature in other marketing including online and social media.

The announcement comes on the same day that 91¶¶Òõ & Hove Albion and the 91¶¶Òõ were named by the FA as one of ten new academies for the Women’s Premier League.
